Adding Tradition to Technology with Engraved Art
Nowadays, cell phones are almost so commonplace that many people cannot imagine life without one. Phones can store personal calendars, business contacts, to-do lists, even take photos with an integrated digital camera. These small devices become so personal with all this information stored inside, yet the external facade remains unexceptional and without identity.
Unless it happens to be this phone, owned and engraved by Ashton Ludden. Ludden, who has recently been experimenting with different styles, found a new canvas with her cell phone. Because of the phone's sleek and modern appearance, this more stylized flower-based pattern creates the perfect design that cuts right through the black coating to show a silvery metal.
Ludden said it cut well enough, and feels like aluminum. Taking into consideration the thin casing, Ludden took care not to engrave this design too deeply. She also continued the design down to the plastic casing, where the engraving is much more subtle with a black-on-black effect. By engraving her phone, Ludden has given a unique personality to the device that not only complements the phone's design, but also reflects her own wonderful engraving skills.
