Wonderful Symmetry in Chrome
A new year of training courses brought a few new engraving instructors to the GRS Training Center, one in particular who produces interesting works on unique surfaces. Tira Mitchell's work has been featured here previously with her engraved Filigree Egg in November 2007.
This work, though shiny chrome now, began as a less-than-amazing clarinet mouthpiece cover. With her well-rounded engraving skills, Tira has beautifully created this symmetrical pattern -- and on a curved surface, no less. For a personalized feel, Tira added the client's personal logo into the design. Any engraver who has worked on a ring or similar curved surface can appreciate the hard work that went into creating and cutting the clarinet cover design.
