Learning Micro-Pavé with Jura
Twelve students and a GRS Instructor filled the GRS Training Center during the week of May 19, 2008. This course focused on the technical stone setting method of micro-pavé. Micro-pavé is a beautiful stone setting technique that involves a great amount of math, especially formulas, to allow for such precise stone setting.
Students took care in writing notes as Jura gave detailed mathematical instructions on how to space the stones. During the week, GRS Instructor Todd Daniels audited the course and helped Jura as an assistant. Student Michael Saldivar commented that, "Todd was a big help to Jura and the class." Daniels teaches several engraving and stone setting courses throughout the year at the GRS Training Center.
Overall, students had a great time learning a few new techniques. Student Aliksan Zarmanoglu from North Hills, California, said, "This class was great. Jura is a great master! I thought I was good, but now I really know what is good." Look for more of the exquisite micro-pavé work by Jura and other wonderful stone setters in the future.
